Boys Basketball Season in Full Swing

The Wirt County Boys basketball season is in full swing. The boys took on Tyler County to start their season.

With a young team, only two seniors, the younger boys will be relied on a lot throughout the season. Blake Batten and Trenton Burdette will have quite a weight on their shoulders as the only seniors. The starting five consist of Blake Batten, Trenton Burdette, Zakk Adams, Justin Windland, and Hunter Hickman.

On the team this year there are three freshmen, eight sophomores, six juniors, and two seniors. The boys continue to work in practice to achieve their goals as a team. Senior captain, Trenton Burdette, says, “I plan to lead the team by helping others and by showing them to play as a team and working together to win games as one.”

The boys played their first game against Tyler Consolidated at home. The boys fell to the Knights but it was a hard fought game. The boys seemed to work together as a team and head coach Chase Mills said, “I think out team chemistry will be better this season and I do think we will work more as a team.”

The boys are looking forward to a good season and have high hopes for their record.
